Career

After graduating in 1976, I qualified as a solicitor in 1978 and became accredited as a Family Law Specialist in 2000.

From 1982 to 1991 I was a Partner with McCann Fordyce, Solicitors in Dumbarton and then from 1991 until 2000 I was a partner with Fordyce & Co. in Alexandria, setting up on my own in 2001.

I served on the Rent Assessment Panel for Scotland for 9 years and was on the panel of Curators Ad Litem in adoptions for 13 years.

I have also been the Secretary and the Librarian of the Faculty of Solicitors of Dunbartonshire.

I served on the committee of The Family Law Association before becoming Vice Chair and then Chair in 1996.

I am presently on the Council of the Scottish Law Agents' Society, of which I am a past President.

I am also on the panel of bar reporters for Dumbarton and Glasgow Sheriff Courts, and a Peer Reviewer under the civil legal aid quality assurance scheme.

I am computer literate and have basic keyboard skills. In June 2003 I obtained the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
